NVQ Level 4 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 4) (RQF)

Advanced Clinical Skills for Pre-Hospital Emergency Care

The FREC 4 is the second level in the First Response Emergency Care (FREC) pathway and plays a vital role in preparing pre-hospital care professionals for advanced trauma, emergency management, and clinical decision-making. It is recognised across the UK and internationally in the ambulance, security, and private medical sectors.

This qualification is essential for professionals operating in high-risk environments where advanced assessment and intervention are required before paramedic care becomes available.

What is FREC 4?

FREC 4 is a Level 4 qualification in emergency medical care that provides learners with enhanced clinical skills and knowledge to operate as senior medics.

Professional Sectors:

Ambulance services (NHS/private)
High-threat security (close protection and hostile environments)
Event and remote medical support
Maritime, oil & gas, and humanitarian sectors
Military, police, and fire services

FREC 4 professionals operate independently or within teams, often acting as the first and most advanced clinical response available at the scene.

Advanced Clinical Response

FREC 4 qualifies professionals to provide advanced clinical interventions and decision-making in high-pressure emergency situations, bridging the gap between basic first response and paramedic care.

This qualification is essential for those seeking to progress toward paramedic registration or work in advanced emergency care roles.
